About the company
The company behind Diglot & Copyeditor.
Writence builds writing software for the world’s non-native English writers and academics. We started with a single, uncomfortable finding — and turned it into two products and one mission.
Why we’re here
We build writing tools for people who think in more than one language — and we design them so the writer stays in control, and can prove the work is theirs.
HOW WE GOT HERE
From a research finding to a company
Writence wasn’t founded to chase a market. It was founded to fix something the research kept pointing at.
The problem
The writers who try hardest get accused most
Most of the world writes English as a second language. The same writers who study grammar, build vocabulary, and revise their drafts the hardest are the ones AI detectors flag most often — because careful, learned English reads as “too clean” to a classifier.
The research
We followed the evidence, not a hunch
Multiple studies — Stanford in 2023, Maryland in 2025, and others — show that AI-detection tools carry a measurable bias against non-native English. False positives on ESL text run far higher than vendors claim. That research is the reason Writence exists.
The answer
Two products from one mission
We didn’t build a detector. We built tools that keep the writer in control and make authorship provable. Diglot serves bilingual writers; Copyeditor serves academics. Same engine, same belief: the work should stay yours, and you should be able to show it.
WHAT WE BUILD
One engine, two front doors
Diglot and Copyeditor share the same backend and the same principles. Each meets a different writer where they are.
Diglot.ai
Bilingual writing for non-native English speakers. Draft in your language, publish in polished English, and prove you wrote it.
Copyeditor.app
The all-in-one academic writing workspace — drafting, citations, references, and originality without juggling six tabs.
